A dozen Otley restaurants join Eat Out discount campaign

Buon Apps riverside Italian restaurant

An Italian restaurant in a beautiful riverside location, a north African eaterie and an East European-style pancake house are just three Otley options where residents and visitors can take advantage of the government’s Eat Out to Help Out campaign this August.

The three are among a dozen pubs, cafés and restaurants in the historic West Yorkshire market town that are taking part in the scheme that offers a 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the month as part of the campaign which aims to support the country’s leisure industry during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Diners will be able to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine at the rustic-chic Buon Apps restaurant that offers panoramic views over the River Wharfe (pictured), sample the flavours of Morocco at the bohemian M’Deena restaurant and enjoy tasty sweet treats at Mr Blinok’s Pancake House.

The trio are joined by four classic town or country pubs in The FleeceThe Chevin InnThe Royalty and the Black Horse, the picturesque lakeside restaurant of the Chevin Country House Hotel & Spa, and traditional Indian dining at the colourful Red Pepper restaurant.

For those looking for a less formal dining atmosphere, a number of the town’s cafés and tearooms are also taking part. These include Greek-influenced The Dales Café, the 1950s-themed Milk Bar and the riverside Parkgate Café.

Chair of Otley Town Council’s Trade & Tourism Committee Cllr Paul Carter (Lib Dem, Manor ward) said: “The Eat Out to Help Out campaign is not only a great idea to encourage people to dine out in Otley, but it also showcases the wide range of restaurant types and cuisines we have in such a relatively small market town. Those taking advantage of the scheme can truly eat their way around the world while enjoying a significant discount on their purchases in the process.”

Chair of Otley BID Tom Hatley said: “Otley is known for its wide range of pubs, restaurants, tearooms and cafés and the leisure industry has been one of the worst hit by the Covid-19 crisis. The Eat Out to Help Out campaign provides a welcome boost for businesses that may have been affected, as well as providing some much needed social relief for residents and visitors.”

The Eat Out to Help Out campaign runs from August 3 to 31, with the 50% discount available Monday through Wednesday inclusive.

The discount will be for food and non-alcoholic drinks sold to eat in and subject to a maximum of £10 per diner. No voucher will be needed, diners are able to combine the discount with other offers and there is no minimum spend.

Those wishing to take advantage of the discounts are reminded that social distancing measures are still in place and bookings may be required. Please check with restaurants before booking for opening times.
