Ably assisted by Bertie, the black cocker spaniel, Alex took opened the the Parkgate Café in September 2024 after buying the business the previous month and doing a total refurb of the premises.

With an emphasis on customer service and high-quality, high-value food and drink options, this little café over the bridge and by the river serves tea, coffee, gorgeous hot chocolate, and homemade cakes, plus hot and cold sandwiches, pop and delicious Brymore ice cream in a variety of flavours.

Originally from York but now living in Otley, Alex had a career in hospitality before taking over the café. She says her mission in life was to: “open a café that would keep people happy. I want them feel comfortable enough for them to kick off their shoes and make themselves feel at home.”
