A new coffee festival, a poetry festival curated by the UK’s only resident town poet Matthew Hedley Stoppard (above), and Otley’s first ever Pride Festival are just three of the events that have been added to our already packed roster for 2022, meaning there’s more to do in Otley than ever this year.

The three events are backed by other new happenings such as a vintage car rally atop the Chevin in May and a host of returning favourites such as the Otley Show and Otley Carnival over the summer.

Come to Otley for cracking comedy

Just because we said there are no major events in Otley in January, it doesn’t mean we don’t have you covered. We could all do with a laugh as we approach Blue Monday (the third Monday in the month said to be the most low-key of the year). How fortunate then that we have two national act comedy nights this month. 

First up are a trio of comedians from the Comedy Network, Luke Kempner, Bella Hull and Naz Osmanoglu who’ll be appearing at the Courthouse on Sunday January 16. 

Less than a week later Shaparak Khorsandi (pictured) brings her unique brand of comedy also to the Courthouse with her latest show It Was The 90s! Both gigs are sure to be popular, so book well ahead before they sell out.

Big names in comedy, big names in music

Music fans will love some of the nationally renowned acts we have gigging in town this month. Over at style bar The Rookery on Saturday January 22, Tom Hingley (pictured) formerly of the Inspiral Carpets will be playing an intimate gig, while the Courthouse plays host to one of the best singer-songwriters in the country, Martyn Joseph,on January 14. Meanwhile, new bar-restaurant Tapas & Tunes is having a tribute to the one and only David Bowie on Friday 21 (tickets from the venue only for this one, call 01943 463000).
