There’s a new way to ride in Otley — and you don’t even need to brave the Yorkshire drizzle.

VeloVirtual is the brainchild of local entrepreneur Lewis Small, son of Otley business stalwart Jenni Small of Jenni’s Dresser. Lewis first caught the cycling bug aged 12, when his dad took him on a charity bike ride to Filey. Fast-forward to today, and he’s turned that passion into something truly unique for the town once crowned the “Cycling Capital of the UK” by ITV4.

Opened in October 2025 by Town Mayor Cllr Paul Carter, VeloVirtual brings world-class cycling tech right to the heart of Otley. Inside the stylish studio, riders hop onto Wattbike Smart Trainers connected to cutting-edge software and high-definition screens, offering breathtaking virtual routes through some of the world’s most iconic cycling locations.

Whether you’re up for a solo session, a group ride, or a class-style workout alongside other cyclists, VeloVirtual blends the thrill of outdoor adventure with the comfort of an indoor studio — no traffic, no rain, just ride. Afterwards, cool down with a coffee in the relaxed café area overlooking Otley Chevin.

So if you’re ready to experience the next generation of cycling, pop along and see why Otley’s cycling spirit is alive and spinning indoors.
