In operation since January 2017 Bay Horse Court-based, Stead & Co. are an architectural practice specialising in delivering residential and community projects, from home extensions to reconfiguring workspaces, including plans for the fledgling Otley Common project.
Under the direction of Stefanie Stead MBD, Safira Hussain and the rest of the team have worked on a wide range of projects, including sports clubs, arts organisations and, faith groups, providing a full architectural and design service following RIBA work stages, from feasibility studies to contract administration.
The company specialises in existing spaces, believing there is nothing more exciting than giving an existing building, whether historic, mid-century or relatively new, a new lease of life. All buildings have some sort of history, not just in terms of itself, but how it fits into the wider community and streetscape.
Winners of a highly commended award from Constructing Excellence in 2024, their four key areas of expertise are buildings for the community including faith buildings, learning environments including schools, community engagement, and small scale residential.
