When York-based businessman and long-time NHS stalwart Haaris Mian decided to open his own gym, he took a long, hard look around Yorkshire before settling on Otley as the right fit.
The town’s independent, quality-led feel chimed with the ethos of the Snap Fitness Otley franchise, and after a three-month gym-fit sprint in the space above KD Carpets on Boroughgate, the doors opened to the public on January 31.
While Haaris and his family oversee the business behind the scenes, the 8,000-square-foot gym is fronted day-to-day by manager Adeel Shabir and assistant Mia Bannister. Anyone following the run-up to opening will have seen the pair leading their own energetic social media push as the final pieces fell into place.
Inside, the gym is designed to support strength, conditioning, recovery and overall wellbeing. Facilities include two group exercise studios, Hammer Strength and Life Fitness equipment, specialist Booty Builder machines, an infrared sauna, and a dedicated recovery zone.
One of the standout features is what’s believed to be one of the UK’s first 24-hour reformer Pilates studios. Alongside instructor-led sessions, members also have access to more than 800 on-demand reformer workouts via touchscreen technology.
With its central location, broad mix of facilities and round-the-clock access, Snap Fitness Otley adds another string to the town’s growing health and fitness offering, giving residents more choice in how, when and where they train.
