Dot Harrison left behind a career on the markets helping her husband with his book-selling business to launch shops selling plants and other homeware, first in Skipton and then in Ilkley before the pandemic hit.
Like many business people, she had to think on her feet as tougher times hit and she began selling house plants first from her home, then from her garage before opening this lovely little shop in Otley – handily using her own name, a play on a URL and the fact that plantsdotcom.co.uk was available when she opened the business.
In a short space of time, she went from being nominated to winning an Otley Business Award and is now a firm favourite and fixture on Boroughgate.
