Parkes & Co
Back in 1993, Andrew Parkinson left behind a career installing kitchens to start collecting rents on properties owned by his family. It didn’t take long before he was representing other landlords too — and before long, Parkes & Co was up and running as a residential lettings and property management specialist.
The company name? It comes from his wife’s nickname for him (“Parks”) — with an added “e”, apparently on the insistence of a friend so they didn’t sound like landscape gardeners. Sensible, really.
Originally based in a single office upstairs at 28 Bondgate, Parkes & Co grew quickly. In 2004 they bought the building, moved downstairs, and rented out their former offices above to other businesses.
In 2011, Andrew’s daughter Jess left Prince Henry’s Grammar School and, after three years cutting her teeth in a Leeds estate agency, joined the family business. She now helps lead the day-to-day as Andrew gradually winds down. And in a full-circle moment, her husband runs his own business from one of the units upstairs.
From one-bedroom apartments to larger family homes, Parkes & Co offers a friendly, local service for both landlords and tenants across Otley, the Wharfe Valley, and surrounding areas.
