There’s been a fish and chip shop on the spot of the Maypole since the early 1900s and the proud tradition of making great fish and chips on the spot continues today under Lee Hodnett and the team.
A former winner of the country’s best fish and chips (presented by no other than famed weatherman Michael Fish!) and a regular contender for the best chippy in Leeds and Yorkshire, there’s always a Friday night queue outside the take away thanks to the high quality of food on offer.
The back of the shop is also home to a 28-seater restaurant for those that prefer to sit down for a meal, while the Maypole also has a 5-star food hygiene rating.
