After a 14-year stint with Houldsworths, carpenter and joiner Josh Whitley decided it was time to take the plunge and build something of his own.

Working initially as a sole trader, Josh spent several years earning a reputation for quality workmanship, reliability and an eye for detail. But as demand grew, so did his ambitions. In February 2025, he expanded into kitchen design, supply and installation, turning the business into a limited company at the same time. Brooks Kitchens & Joinery Services was born.

Taking its name from Josh’s own middle name, Brooks has evolved into far more than a traditional joinery business. Today, the company offers a complete kitchen service, managing everything from initial design concepts and product selection through to installation and finishing touches, giving customers a single point of contact throughout the entire project.

Alongside kitchens, Brooks also creates bespoke fitted furniture, media walls, home offices, utility rooms and a wide range of custom joinery solutions, helping homeowners make the most of their space while adding a personal touch that’s often difficult to find from larger national suppliers.

Despite the company’s growth, Josh remains very much at the heart of the business. Rather than stepping away from the practical side of the job, he still spends much of his time on-site, fitting kitchens and completing joinery projects alongside apprentice Ryan, ensuring the same high standards are maintained from the first conversation through to the final handover.
