Bondgate Bakery has been a town favourite artisan bakery for nearly four decades. Founded in 1984, the bakery has been committed to baking traditional bread the way it used to be made.
Director Sally Hinchliffe has always been passionate about food since she was young, inspired by family travels when she was younger. Today, Bondgate Bakery is renowned for its commitment to baking with integrity, using pure and unadulterated ingredients sourced locally to produce high-quality bread, cakes, pies, and savouries.
When Sally’s partner, Steve Taylor, joined her in setting up the business, he brought with him a selection of family recipes that he learned from his grandmother, a lifelong baker. Among these recipes are some popular Bondgate Bakery items such as parkin and Yorkshire curd tart.
Instead of relying on mixes and additives, the bakery uses real traditional bread-making methods to produce high-quality bread. They source untreated flours from local producers to ensure their ingredients are pure and unadulterated.
