Bagels & Bakery by O'Deli

Business of the Week, Cafés, pubs & restaurants

Back in 2015, Kay Whiteley Garwood and Tony Garwood opened O’Deli Café & Prosecco House and quietly built one of those businesses that people don’t just visit, they become slightly obsessed with. Over the years the pair have become firmly woven into Otley’s independent scene, not only through O’Deli but via their involvement with other local ventures including the Otley Tap House.

One of the unexpected stars of O’Deli was always Kay’s homemade bakes and sweet treats. Living with coeliac disease herself, she developed recipes that didn’t feel like the usual “that’ll do” gluten-free compromise. Regulars quickly realised these were simply good full stop, whether you avoided gluten or not.

A decade on at the end of 2025 that passion grew into Bagels & Bakery on Market Street, now recognised as Otley’s first fully gluten-free bakery. The focus is exactly what you’d hope for: loaded bagels, cakes, quiches, pies, cheesecakes and a rotating cast of dangerously tempting counter treats, all produced with the same attention to quality that made O’Deli such a hit in the first place.

For anyone navigating coeliac disease, gluten intolerance, or just a love of excellent baked goods, this is one of those places that makes Otley’s food scene feel just a bit more impressive.
