It’s always great to see an Otley company with national (and even international) recognition and Backcountry UK, based in Wharfebank Mills, certainly falls into that category.
Owned by Phil Evans and Tom Berridge, Backcountry is THE specialist company in the UK for offering ski touring boots and fixings. The pair are expects in boot fitting, ski mountaineering, telemark and off-piste skiing and the company offers big name brands such as Scarpa and Tecnica.
As well as ski touring boots, the company offers walking boots and specialises in boots to fit all including wide profiles and specialist boots for those with bunions.
Other services include bespoke inner soles, socks, backpacks, skis and other walking and climbing gear.
Originally based in Ilkley and with a more than 30 year history, Backcountry has been operating in Otley for around a decade and continues to go from strength to strength.
Pre-booking fitting sessions is highly recommended.
