Wow The Brow
Melly Greenall’s lived a full life: burlesque performer, lecturer in English, stay-at-home mum, make up artist, trainee counsellor… you name it, she’s done it.
In lockdown though a friend convinced her to try her hand at permanent make-up (PMU) or micro pigmentation, a type of cosmetic tattooing that can be used to enhance eyebrows, eyelashes, eyelids and lips, or even improve the appearance of scarring. And she’s not looked back.
Two long years of study followed – especially given she started training in the pandemic – before she qualified. So intense was the training, she had to treat an inflated balloon time and time again. It was only when she could do it consistently without popping the ballon that she was deemed to have done it right. Think the Karate Kid’s ‘wax-on, wax-off’ training with a type of tattoo gun and a latex bag of air.
That training has now come good with Mel opening Wow The Brow in Orchard Gate’s kiosk in April 2025. Decorated with Roy Lichtenstein-style pop art, Mel wanted to get away from the classic beauty salon look of muted colours and go for big and bright, just like herself.
