Back Nine Golf
There are some amazing golf courses in the Leeds and Wharfedale area, but did you know you can now play on more than 300 of the world’s best courses right in the heart of Otley?
This fairway to (golfing) heaven comes courtesy of Backyard Nine, the brainchild of Otley resident Ollie Firth (son of the lovely Michelle who owns Peek a Boo Baby Boutique in New Inn Court) and Guiseley-based former sports journalist Mark Flanagan.
The pair met on the sidelines while watching their sons play rugby together and came up with the idea of setting up a golf simulator, first opening in Guiseley, followed by a branch in Otley in spring of 2024.
Based in what was Lunds of Otley on Westgate, the simulator is home to two Trackman golf bays featuring some of the best golf-sim technology out there.
Users can play on the world’s best courses using their own clubs or renting a set from Back Nine – and there are gamification options that allow parents to get their kids interested in golf without having to drag them around a wet and windy course.
Golf sims aside, Back Nine also offers interactive darts, a pool table, a licensed bar area and big screen sports coverage. The space is available for birthday parties, works events, sports club presentations, stag and hen parties, Christmas dos and more.
